A staff member at Isle of Wight children's nursery has received a positive test for Covid-19.

The Island Day Nursery in Sandown emailed parents earlier this week advising them to self-isolate for 14 days until Friday September 25.

A member of staff had visited St Mary's Hospital last week regarding an unrelated condition, but was found to have had Covid symptoms, and tested positive for the virus.

The nursery immediately contacted Public Health England, who issued the advice, and the nursery swiftly messaged all parents to pass on the information.

The isolation period only applies to the Island Day Nursery's Sandown location, and does not affect those in Newport or Wootton.

The news comes just hours after it was revealed that Cowes Primary School will also have a selective isolation period as a result of the virus, although it was not confirmed whether it was a pupil or member of staff who tested positive.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of Covid-19

If your child develops symptoms of Covid-19, they must not go to school and should remain at home for at least ten days from the date when symptoms appeared.

Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged HERE or by calling 119.

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.
