AT THE weekend we rounded up all the Isle of Wight restaurants continuing in the spirit of the Eat Out scheme — now Wetherspoons has joined the club.
Along with Newport's Castle Inn, Bembridge based Ye Olde Village Inn and the Sloop Inn in Wootton, the Ryde and Newport branches of Wetherspoons have launched their own discounted menu.
They have called it Stay Out To Help Out, and it runs from today until November 11, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The meals on offer include an 11 inch Margherita pizza with soft drink for £3.99 and a classic six ounce beef burger with chips and soft drink for £3.99.
A traditional breakfast (fried egg, two rashers of bacon, two hash browns, baked beans, sausage, tomato and toast) will cost £2.99 and a small breakfast £2.49.
The pubs will also be offering three small plates for £7.50 as well as desserts at £1.99 and mini desserts at 99p.
There is a choice of 21 small plates in the three for £7.50 deal, including nachos, halloumi fries, chicken wings and nine varieties of pizza (eight inch).
Coffee or tea (with free refills) will be available for 99p, and all soft drinks will cost 99p.
Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin said: "The government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme was extremely popular with our customers and a great boost to the hospitality industry.
"We are keen to offer our customers a superb choice of food and drink at great value for money prices."
