FIREFIGHTERS 'commandeered' a train yesterday evening (Sunday) to tackle a gorse fire near the track on Harding Shute.
At 8.50pm, a single fire crew from Ryde was called to the scene between Brading and Smallbrook station.
A railway officer took the crew via a train, and upon arrival, firefighters extinguished the fire with a light portable pump and hand tools.
We love the Isle of Wight but only on the Island can you commandeer a train and go along and put out a small gorse fire by the track in Harding Shute @Bluewatch_Ryde @IWFRSRYDE pic.twitter.com/gfzjvdgbwK
