THE official Eat Out to Help Out scheme might be coming to an end, but some food chains and local businesses across the Isle of Wight are continuing to follow the spirit of the initiative.
Independent businesses had in recent days urged the Government to continue to back the movement — which comes to an end on August 31 — throughout September to help struggling eateries get back on their feet.
The move, intended to invigorate the hospitality industry, has offered 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks, up to a total value of £10 per person if you eat or drink in.

However, Newport's Castle Inn, Bembridge based Ye Olde Village Inn and the Sloop Inn in Wootton will be continuing to self-fund the deal beyond this month.
Liam White, head chef and co-owner of the Castle Inn, said: "We are continuing the scheme with a slight adjustment. We will be doing Eat Out to Help Out on Mondays and Tuesdays only, and it will apply solely to food.
Otherwise, the deal is the same as it has been this month, with 50 per cent off for orders of up to £10 per person."
If you fancy taking advantage of the Sloop Inn's offer, you need to download an app by clicking HERE and selecting The Sloop Inn as your favourite Stonehouse restaurant.
You will then be able to enjoy the same terms as the Eat Out scheme until Wednesday September 9.
The Olde Village Inn has recently undergone a makeover, bringing a dash of festival season to a summer sorely lacking in musical events. In addition, chefs at the eye-catching venue have designed a brand new menu for next month.
Landlord, Jay Chapman, said: "We will be carrying on the scheme, completely self-funded, as a thank you to our loyal customers and the local community who have helped us in these difficult months."
A slice of speculation, but yet to be confirmed
Meanwhile, reports that Pizza Hut will also be continuing to offer the discount into September have yet to be confirmed.
More than 65 million meals have been claimed since the deal was introduced to help the struggling hospitality industry during the coronavirus pandemic.
Hundreds of Island eateries took part in the scheme.
