A SHANKLIN man — initially spared jail after assaulting a police officer — has been sent to prison.
Gary Dauncey, 49, of Osborne Road, was originally given a four-month custodial sentence — suspended for nine months.
However, he went on to commit a theft at a shop earlier this week, which saw him back in court on Wednesday.
There he admitted the theft, and possession of a wrap of cocaine.
As he had breached his suspended sentence, magistrates ordered him to complete his custodial sentence.
