ORGANISERS of Jack Up the Summer said they have been 'completely overwhelmed' by the incredible support shown by attendees, artists, suppliers, contractors and traders.

The festival was postponed until 2021 but many artists have pledged their commitment to the rescheduled event, which is set for August 6 to 8.

Stepping up to take a slot is 90s dance duo Phats and Small.

Jason 'Phats' Hayward said: "We are both thrilled to be asked to return to support this brilliant festival. We always enjoy our time at Jack Up and the incredibly warm reception we receive on the beautiful Isle of Wight."

Crowd-pleasers ABBA Chique will also be joining the original 2020 line-up, which has been rolled over to 2021 and includes Heather Small, Heaven 17, Strangler’s frontman Hugh Cornwell, From The Jam, Black Lace, Aswad, Dario G, Baby D and more.

Ainsley Dowell from ABBA Chique said: “Since our first performance at Jack Up in 2015, we can definitely say it is one of the best events we have had the pleasure of being involved in.

"The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the crowd are very much up for a good time, singing along and dancing to every song. ABBA Chique can't wait to be back on the Island, and once again be a part of this fabulous event.”

Three-piece Island band The Resisters are also pleased to have been invited to appear. The group is gearing up to open the Saturday with some 90s pop-punk, Britpop, indie and rock.

Frontman Dan Chapman said: “We have missed being able to perform together to live audiences in the same way everyone will miss being able to attend festivals, summer shows and events around the UK this year.

"It’s been the strangest of times but alongside the Jack Up organisers we are determined to make up for it next summer.”

The Island’s Ska’d For Life will be opening the show on the Sunday.

Event manager Sarah Moss said: “There's a special kind of magic that lives in creating shared moments in time, and putting those moments together for people to enjoy is what our small team live for.

"Jack Up is a true labour of love, and after the many months of work which go into planning the event, being unable to share it with everyone this year is utterly heartbreaking.

"We’re delighted however to confirm that 98 per cent of the artists who were previously booked for 2020 will be returning in 2021, and now with some fantastic new bonus additions.

"We are absolutely committed to giving our loyal audience a truly memorable weekend, just a little later than originally planned.”

Tickets will soon go back on sale at 2020 prices. Children aged 12 and under attend for free.
