PROVING there's no place like the Isle of Wight to call home, one of the Island's four white-tailed sea eagles has come back after a mammoth trip away.

The female juvenile known as G3-24 returned to the Isle of Wight on Thursday, April 9, after a six-day, 650km flight around East Anglia and south-east England.

The Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation, which released and monitors the birds, said: "These exploratory flights are key in helping the young eagles learn the landscape.

"It also shows that G3-24 now regards the Isle of Wight as home."

G3-24 spent all winter on the Isle of Wight, often in the company of G2-74.
