A HUGE amount of cash from an Isle of Wight choir is among the generous donations to help the Isle of Wight County Press meet its first #WightAngels #ThankYouNHS fundraising appeal target in just five days, allowing us to aim even higher.
The Phoenix Choir, which is based in Wootton, has donated a whopping £1,000 towards buying wellbeing packs and treats for Isle of Wight NHS workers on the coronavirus frontline.

Robin Burnett from the Phoenix Choir said: "The Phoenix Choir is proud to support the NHS and pleased to assist them in a small way at this challenging time. We perhaps do not always appreciate the work that they do, but it is their dedication and commitment that is at the forefront of the current crisis. We trust that they stay safe – and keep smiling.
"Our contribution to the appeal represents a donation from each and every choir member made from their rehearsal subscriptions.
"In normal times, the choir raises money from concerts held on behalf of local charities and good causes, which, over the past ten years, has totalled nearly £55,000. We are all looking forward to resuming performances as soon as we are permitted to do so."
The Isle of Wight County Press team is hugely grateful for all the donations so far - big and small.

The County Press’s #WightAngels #ThankYouNHS appeal launched on Friday, with a £2,000 fundraising goal.
Thanks to the typical generosity of Islanders, we have now been able to extend that goal to £4,000.
Can you help us achieve it?
