Toilet rolls, hand sanitiser and paracetamol are among the other items people have started stockpiling over fears of self-isolation due to coronavirus.
Officials have been advising there is no need to panic-buy, but empty shelves across many of the Island's shops suggest the advice has fallen on deaf ears.
With the Isle of Wight's first case of coronavirus confirmed today, the Isle of Wight Council has issued advice for people feeling ill or concerned they may be at risk.
The advice is about taking basic hygiene precautions.
Sneeze or cough into a tissue, bin it, wash your hands frequently and don’t touch your face unless you’ve just washed your hands.
