ISLAND cosplayers raised more than £100 for a cancer charity as they celebrated the leap year with a party in Cowes.
Attendees came dressed as characters from Doctor Who, Star Trek and a myriad of characters from the worlds of film, TV and Anime at the IW Community Club.
The event raised £108 for the Wessex Cancer Trust.
Its organiser, Roy Spearman, said: “The party was an absolute blast. The headlines are that everyone had a fantastic time and the variety and quality of costumes on display were fantastic.
“I think the weather and the forecast for continuing high winds put some people off coming along, but those that made the effort were extremely generous with their time and giving cash.
“It made for a fantastic event.
“The karaoke was by far our favourite part of the event, with a memorable performance of Lionel Richie’s Hello sung by a Star Trek security officer to our resident Dalek.
“There was also a brilliant recital of Wuthering Heights by someone dressed as a rabbit who had watched too much Clockwork Orange.
“Everyone got together at the end of the night to belt out Monty Python’s Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
“The IW Community Club’s help and generosity made staging the event so much easier and simpler.”
