THE ISLE of Wight Hunt has appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court today (Monday) for failing to comply with a noise abatement notice.

The matter relates to dates between May and August 2019 and states: "The hunt, having been served with an abatement notice under section 80(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 by the Isle of Wight Council, without reasonable excuse contravened or failed to comply with a requirement, namely to abate the statutory nuisance caused by the barking and/or howling of a hound or hounds, imposed by the notice."

Representing the Isle of Wight Hunt, Anthony John Blest denied contravening the notice.

The case has been sent for trial, set to begin in May.
