A TRUST which helps people with eating disorders has been awarded almost £10,000 from the National Lottery Awards For All.

Kae’s Trust was established by the mother of Kayleigh Barnes, who died at 29 after a prolonged battle with anorexia nervosa.

It has now been given a start-up grant of £9,760.

Chair and founder of Kae’s Trust, Sue Barnes, said: “The organisation was set up to help the families, carers and friends of people with an eating disorder to come together and know they are not alone.

"Support from people who have had similar experience is so important and is something that was not available for me.

“The trust currently runs fortnightly support group meetings on Friday mornings in Ryde.

"The funding will allow us to expand to meet in Newport and to help get our message out to health service professionals that we are here, and to work with other professionals so there is support in the community.”
