THE Labour Party will campaign to win the Isle of Wight seat in the forthcoming General Election — and said it will not bow to pressure from other parties to stand aside.
The party has recommended a candidate, which has not yet been approved or announced publicly.
Julian Critchley stood for Labour in 2017 and came second to Conservative MP Bob Seely.
Julian, as chair of the Constituency Labour Party, said yesterday: "What I can confirm is that Labour will be standing a candidate on the Island, and will be fighting to win.
"It would be ridiculous for the Labour Party, which finished second to the Tories in 2017, thousands of votes ahead of the minor parties, to do anything but fight to win the seat."
The election takes place on December 12.
