THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised in a burst of colour, as 1,000 participants joined the Inflatable Rainbow Run in aid of the Wessex Cancer Trust.
The charity event was held at the Isle of Wight Airport on Sunday, sponsored by Island businesses including headline sponsor, Arid Design, medal sponsors, White Windows and Wight Heating, T-shirt sponsor, 1Leisure, and corporate sponsor, Fidelity UK.
People of all ages ran and walked their way through the 3km course — which featured ten inflatables, and five rainbow-powder paint stations — to win their medals.
A bespoke trophy, created by the Needles Landmark Attraction, was won by PGL of Little Canada, the first Island business to cross the finish line.
Other Island supporters and volunteers included Wight Crystal, Red Funnel, Isle of Wight Radio, Shanklin and Cowes Co-operative Food stores and Biffa Waste Services.
Lorraine White, Wessex Cancer Trust's head of fundraising for the IW, said: "Thank you to all the rainbow runners who made the day so amazing, and a special thanks to all our volunteers, sponsors and supporters."
The final amount raised will be announced in due course.
