AN OUTDOOR water park is set to open at Tapnell Farm early next year.

Planning permission has been granted for the popular attraction to open a floating, inflatable Aqua Park lake at the centre of the farm.

It will measure approximately 50m x 80m and will feature a floating, inflatable course with a range of obstacles, with a safe area for kayaking, paddleboarding and swimming.

The water park will create six new jobs and operate separately to the existing businesses at Tapnell Farm.

It will also include shower and changing facilities and a viewing platform.

Tom Turney, owner of Tapnell Farm, said: "We are continually looking at new ways to diversify our tourism offer, extend the season and attract new visitors.

"We are delighted to be opening the IW’s first outdoor, floating, inflatable Aqua Park. It will not only fill the current gap in the market but provide a safe outdoor water sport facility on the Island for both Islanders and visitors to enjoy."

The assault course is being designed specifically for the farm and plans to be open from May to September.

Will Myles, managing director of Visit IW, said: "This is an amazing addition to both Tapnell Farm and the Island’s tourism products, another reason for visitors to come to the IW and discover what is on offer.

"It is testament to the vision and continuing investment by the Turney Family and it is fascinating to watch diversification taking place before our very eyes at this award-winning location."

As part of the development, the existing animal encounter at Tapnell Farm will be moved to an improved, purpose-built area within the paddocks.

Improvements will also be made to the main road junction to cater for anticipated additional traffic.

In September 2018, Robin Hill announced plans to create a multi-million pound water park, The Springs, but plans have not yet been submitted to the council.
