A FORMER teacher with a passion for woodwork is holding an exhibition at the Brading Roman Villa.
Gerald Hinchcliffe, who operates from his garage workshop in Ryde, was a metal work and technical drawing teacher on the mainland before retiring to the Isle of Wight.
Gerald, 82, was born on the Island, and has always had a passion for woodwork.
"Furniture design was my first love," said Gerald.
"I prefer designing the pieces to making them, but I love both."
Gerald sources a lot of his timber from auction houses, and buys exotic timber from places such as Surrey Timbers, Guildford.
"Everyone seems to like them. It's traditional, hand-made furniture — unique, and made on the Isle of Wight."
This is Gerald's fourth exhibition of the year, and he already has two planned for next year.
There are still a couple of days left to catch the exhibition — it runs until Wednesday.
