ST HELENS Primary School children will enjoy free sailing lessons this summer, thanks to Sea View Yacht Club and Southern Vectis.
When the yacht club offered to teach youngsters to sail, it quickly became clear travel would be a problem.
Southern Vectis stepped in and said the Year 5 and 6 children could travel from school for free on its Route 8 service.
Yacht club sailing director Jonathon Curtis said: "Sailing lessons give pupils the chance to enjoy something completely different, teaching them a new skill, and allowing them to bond as a team.
"We hope this experience will give them memories that will last a lifetime."
Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager, said: “We are always looking for ways to support local schools, clubs and societies.
“We hope St Helens Primary School pupils enjoy their summer on the water.”
St Helens Headteacher, Carl Wake, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable and fulfilling experience. We’d like to thank Sea View Yacht Club and Southern Vectis for making it all possible.”
