POP Goes The Culture – the Isle of Wight's social gaming and pop culture event – has released a teaser trailer for its second coming.
Organisers CGI Con took to social media yesterday (Wednesday) to announce the second event is to be held at Cowes Enterprise College again.
Families and children of all ages piled into the first event for an afternoon of comedy, cosplay and the search for the Island's greatest Mario Kart player.
A giant TV screen aided the crowd as they watched competitors duke it out for the coveted Mario Kart title. There were also delicious cakes on sale and comic book memorabilia.
Even the Island's first real life superhero, the Wight Knight, made a special guest appearance – spreading his message of community spirit and teasing a trip to ITV's This Morning programme.
Elated presenter and co-organiser Alex Watts told the County Press to expect a 'bigger and better' experience this time with 'gratuitously awesome' prizes, earlier opening times, even more showmanship and a plethora of traders.
Alex said: "There'll be an actual cosplay contest this time and the prize for that is so gratuitously awesome, I can't even tell you what it is! Let me just say, it will involve going somewhere.
"We've got more traders, more acts, more stuff to do, more than just one game – it'll be like last time but on steroids.
"We've been speaking to a couple of Youtubers too, nothing confirmed yet but we're planning on someone with the 100,000 to 150,000 subscriber mark. We have been speaking to some very, very big names though...
"It won't be a free event this time, we don't know the cost of the ticketing but we are trying to keep it as low as possible."
Pop Goes The Culture returns to Cowes on April 13 and is organised by PC Consultants, Big Screen Media, Nosy Design and the AlexWattsBlog under the banner of CGI Con.
