THE FORMER Countryman pub near Brighstone — owned by an Isle of Wight politician — has been put on the market.
Green Party parliamentary candidate Vix Lowthian's property, now called Hoarstone House, has been in a state of dereliction for years.
She did not reply to a County Press enquiry asking why the building had been allowed to fall into disrepair, but did confirm: "Yes I am selling and will be buying a home on the Island."
Planning permission was granted in 2013 for alterations and change of use to a single residential dwelling.
Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the site is on the main Limerstone Road to Brighstone and outlooks the southern coast, with downland views to the rear.
The property, which has eight bedrooms and six bathrooms, is set in a 0.65 acre site.
It has been put on the market with Spence Willard for £360,000.
The listing describes the property as a building site 'not suitable for children and entered at your own risk.'
