MEETING Sir Geoff Hurst and Rio Ferdinand has further inspired two footballing brothers.

Spurs fans Jacob Knowles, seven, and Josh Knowles, 14, travelled to Wembley to see both the England match against Nigeria and the FA Cup Final.

They went with their mother Sandra after being invited to a selection of VIP events through Hillbans Pest Control, of which Sandra is director, and Club Wembley .

Sandra said: "Both days were amazing, we were treated like stars. We had lots of time to discuss football tactics and all players were happy to talk to the boys about their football clubs and positions that they play in here on the Island.

"Sir Geoff Hurst was so accommodating, signing both football shirts and programmes for the boys. He spoke to us about winning the World Cup and scoring that hat trick! Both boys were totally starstruck by meeting him.

"This was Jacob's inspiration as he wants to be a striker. Joshua plays in defence and he was overwhelmed to meet Rio Ferdinand. He was amazed by his height and after taking with him Josh has taken so much inspiration from him as a defender, a position that is often overlooked by many.

"The boys were overwhelmed by the time that everyone took to talk to them and how happy they were to have photos taken, just like ordinary people, they were all very grounded.

"They have been inspired to continue training hard and stay committed and who knows what the future may bring."

Joshua plays for West Wight Under 14s and Jacob trains with West Wight Under 7s.

It was Jacob's first time to Wembley and his first football match. Joshua and Sandra have travelled to Wembley a few times this season, to watch Spurs play.

The family lives in Carisbrooke. Joshua attends Christ the King College and Jacob goes to Newport CE Primary.
