COASTGUARD rescue teams searched for a person in the River Medina, Newport, last night (Friday).
Ventnor and Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams, along with the RNLI lifeboat from Cowes, were sent to the scene at 10.45pm.
Nothing was found and further investigation revealed the original information was given in error.
In a separate incident, another search was carried out at East Cowes after a lifejacket was found at the water’s edge.
A call was received by a security guard on patrol just after 1am this morning (Saturday).
Ventnor and Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams carried out a shoreline search, along with the RNLI lifeboat from Cowes, but nothing untoward was found.
