REVISED plans to build eye-catching tree houses and holiday lodges at Robin Hill have been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council.
On the advice of planning officers, the size of the proposed multi-million pound development has been slightly reduced to 19 tree houses, 23 lodges and 40 glamping tents, plus a reception and bakery building and car parking.
Officers had advised the previous scheme was too large and the layout too regimented, and warned it could have a negative impact on the AONB if too many trees were removed.
According to a revised planning application, after the first application was submitted just over a year ago, the site would be extensively landscaped, the main road access to Robin Hill from Downend Road would be improved, and fewer trees would be chopped down.
With green and glamping holidays becoming increasingly popular, it is hoped the 'unique and attractive' accommodation will attract tourists looking for a more unusual holiday experience and provide a welcome boost for the Island's tourism industry.
The development would cater for up to 320 visitors and create 50 jobs.
Comments on the application must be submitted by April 7.
