So sad to learn of Father Rayner's passing .Whilst working for the Isle of Wight Library Service I was a parishioner at St. Mark's Wootton Bridge 1975-77 and sang in the choir . So many happy memories of parish life - the parish bus and its Mystery Tours , Parish holidays , Sooty the church cat and many good friends . Shining through though is the spiritual inspiration from Fr. Rayner -a dedicated priest to his flock .

So sorry to hear that we have lost the Reverend Rayner - he was such an inspirational Vicar back at St Mark's Church Wootton when I was in my formative years. He brought such life to the church and encouraged us, the youth, to be involved in so many activities. Special memories for me include the fabulous old bus he got going and used for Sunday school trips to other churches around the Island - brilliant - picnics and talks on sunny days! Also he introduced a Saturday morning cinema with some lovely Disney movies and I am still reminded of these when I hear certain songs! But most of all, his encouragement to faith which has lasted my whole life - so thank you Reverend Rayner for your wonderful life and for the special part you played in mine.
