John Rackett
Rackett John Taken from us so unexpectedly on 6th Feb in his favourite place, out at sea, doing what he loved most in life, fishing. He was a man of great integrity, had a great sense of humour and was a man we all looked up to and loved. We are beyond devastated, our hearts shattered. John was not religious or fond of social gatherings so in respect of that it will be a direct cremation. Our thanks to RNLI, coastguard and medics who did all they could. If anyone would like to make a contribution please make a donation to the RNLI. Rest in Peace. We will carry you in our hearts and memories for always. Elaine, Mike, Deb and all your family.

John first took me Fishing as a teenager and even all those years ago was a font of knowledge. He spent his life at sea and was a highly respected member of Bembridge Angling Club. Even now, everyone at the club is still shocked and saddened by his passing. Just recently I was talking to him and he was still passionate about fishing areas to try and his future intentions. I am going to miss the conversations with him as the font of knowledge he had was overwhelming. I respected him immensely for the person he was and what he’d achieved in his boat and out at sea. It was truly a saddening day when John was taken, doing what he loved the most. RIP John. A true Salty Sea-Dog taken too soon. I’ll miss you mate and the conversations we always used to have and it will never be the same without you at the club and thank you for all that you done there over the years. Spence - BAC.
