A COUPLE who first met in 1964, Tony Knaggs and Susan Bemrose, were married at the Bell Hotel, Driffield, East Yorkshire.
The bridegroom, of Bouldnor, was originally from Driffield was a compositor for the now defunct Driffield Times. Now living on the Island, he sails his Yarmouth One Design Yacht and plays the drums in 1950’s rock ’n’ roll band, Over the Hill Mob.
The bride, who worked as a secretary, self-employed businesswoman and financial administrator at a care home before retiring to Nottinghamshire to be near her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, is from East Yorkshire.
The bride wore an ivory empire-line dress with diamante trim.
She was given away by Angela Parry (bride’s daughter) and attended by Rebecca Parry (bride’s granddaughter) and Isabella Waldron (bridegroom’s granddaughter).
Mike Rogerson (bridegroom’s fellow band-mate in Syndicate 5) was best man.
A reception was held at The Old Town Hall, Driffield, followed by a honeymoon in the Yorkshire Wolds and Norfolk.
Sue and Tony originally met in 1964 and dated for six months before drifting apart and it took a friend of Sue’s, Wendy Palmer, to bring them together again last December when Tony was making his annual visit to Driffield to visit family and friends.
The couple will live on the Island.
