An Isle of Wight paedophile who flouted the terms of his sexual harm prevention order for a third time has been spared jail.

Brian Gandy, of Folly Lane, East Cowes, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday, May 31.

At the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on April 23, the 74-year-old pleaded guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Prosecutor, Tim Devlin, said Gandy was made subject to the order in November 2021.

Court heard he was handed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, for making indecent images of children, which included a number of extreme pictures.

In February 2024, while Gandy's suspended sentence order was in place, he failed to register a Nexus tablet, which was located during a search.

Jim Osborne, defending, said the device in question was very old, did not work, and had been packed away when Gandy moved to the Isle of Wight.

He said he had completely forgotten about it as he suffers with his memory, as a result of long Covid.

Recorder Malcolm Gibney said the breach was Gandy's third and by now he should be aware that he is subject to the court order.

Handing Gandy a two year community order, he warned: "If you come back before the courts having breached it again there is a real prospect you will find yourself in custody."

Gandy was also fined £500 and ordered to carry out rehabilitation activity requirement days.
