A fire in the early hours of this morning (Monday) has torn through a farm building in Ashey on the Isle of Wight.

Firefighters remain on scene at East Ashey Manor Farm, off Ashey Road and East Ashey Lane, this morning (Monday).

A fire, measuring 15m by 25m at its height, broke out in an agricultural building.

It's understood the roof has been destroyed.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the site at 12.46am.

Four engines, from Sandown, Ryde, Newport and Shanklin were alerted.

Two officers and a water carrier also attended.

Hydrants, jets and hose reels were used to douse the flames.

A single appliance remains on scene.
