Isle of Wight drivers are being warned of delays heading to and from Newport, as a main route in and out of the town closes today (Wednesday).

From this morning, Long Lane is being shut for an estimated three days.

The closure is necessary to allow for Openreach to carry out pole test works.

An official diversion route is in place via Briddlesford Road and Staplers Road, although drivers can also head down Blacklands Lane.

Long Lane is expected to shut from 10.30am this morning to Friday, May 3, at 4.30pm.

Drivers are being told to allow extra time for their journeys.
