A TALENTED teenage cricketer from the Isle of Wight has earned his place ahead of hundreds of hopefuls in a special winter training squad run by Hampshire Cricket.
Bertie Adkins, of Newport, has been selected for the Hampshire Cricket Boys' U15s Player Pathway scheme's U15s winter training squad, who meet at the county's Regional Performance Centre.
The 14-year-old, who attends Ryde School, plays for both Newport Cricket Club and Porchfield — enjoying a very successful season.
Bertie was awarded the Chris Cheverton Trophy, for most promising colt, at this year's Newport Cricket Club awards evening recently.
He is supported by the Isle of Wight Talented Athletes Scheme and said he looks forward to improving his cricket, thanks to the this opportunity.
