A man was pronounced dead in hospital after being pulled from the water off the Isle of Wight yesterday (Monday).
The crew members of the Solent coastguard helicopter were among emergency responders called to Whitecliff Bay at around 2pm, after a boat washed ashore with no-one on board.
The engine was still warm on the 12-foot long vessel, prompting a search of the area.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called out at 3.20pm, to the scene near Sandhills Holiday Park.
A man pulled from the water was later pronounced dead.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.
