THE Isle of Wight’s Footprint Trust is running free workshops to help residents cope with the energy crisis.
Before the Covid-19 lockdown, the trust ran its popular Monergy workshops, which gave attendees the skills to understand energy bills.
Hundreds of Islanders benefitted; most saving around £200 on their utility costs.
The trust says it has been inundated with calls as household costs have risen, and more than 2,000 people have benefitted from their guidance and help over the last 12 months.
“With the average energy bill now around £3,000, and a further rise planned for April, people need this course more than ever,” said Norman Arnold for the trust.
“Many people struggle to understand and interpret energy bills.
“Others do not know how to use heating systems and appliances to best effect.”
Thanks to funding from the Isle of Wight Council’s multiply initiative, the trust can now offer free short workshops to anyone of working age.
