ENGLAND legend Stuart Pearce visited the Isle of Wight for an exclusive show at Medina Theatre earlier this month.
‘An Evening with Stuart Pearce’, aka Psycho, was brought to Medina Theatre by Seamless Entertainment and hosted by sports presenter and broadcaster Richard Graves.
Following a VIP meet and greet with the footballing great, audience members took to their seats for an unscripted interview, offering an insight into Stuart’s career.
Stuart discussed his early career, playing a double life as a semi-pro Wealdstone player and as the elusive Soviet-born goalkeeper Yacob Yenson for his local amateur club.
He went on to speak about his time in the England squad, with some humorous stories of Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoyne, and professional playing and managerial career at the likes of Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and West Ham.
After a short interlude, Southampton FC legend Francis Benali joined the Stuart on stage to debate England’s chances at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and answered further questions from the audience.
On the night, a silent auction, held by show organisers Seamless Entertainment, raised £2,060 for the Wessex Cancer Trust on the Isle of Wight.
Stuart told the County Press he has fond memories of holidaying on the Island, particularly in Sandown and Ventnor.
Speaking about the evening, Stuart told us he enjoyed the night and working with Francis again.
He said: “It was good to see that everyone who came enjoyed it and everyone had an opportunity to ask questions.”
Francis Benali said: “Brilliant stories and a lot of fun! Great to be part of An Evening With Stuart Pearce.
“Thanks to everyone who was involved with the event.”
Host Richard Graves said: “Some great tales, plenty of laughs and money raised for a great cause! Much fun was had by all those present and it was my pleasure to host it.
“All credit goes to the organisers for bringing along the calibre of Stuart and Francis. We’d do it all again if given the opportunity!”
Pete Moore and Rebecca Gregory, who made the show possible, said: “''Seamless Entertainment would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the evening, you made it a very special night to remember, and we look forward to welcoming you to any of our future events''
“We'd also like to give special thanks to our sponsors Red Funnel Ferries, Citroën at Central Garage Newport, and Town Choice Cafe for supporting the event.
“Regarding VIP guests who attended the evening and would like their VIP meet & greet pictures with Stuart Pearce on the red carpet, can email the team - hello@seamlessentertainment.co.uk.”
