SEAVIEW Regatta’s annual mid-August event on the Isle of Wight that includes sailing, tug-of-war, beach sports, swimming, diving and rowing got underway yesterday (August 16).

Established in 1853, this three-day event provides traditional fun for the whole family.

Yesterday, sailings races got the Regatta started in the morning, and teams of eight battled it out at a tug-of-war on Seagrove playing fields in the evening.

Today (August 17), children’s sport will begin at 9am on the beach in Seagrove Bay.
In the afternoon, swimming events will start from 2pm at the Bay, diving at the Sea View Yacht Club slipway at 5pm, with the Regatta’s famous Greasy Pole competition following at around 6pm.
