A MAYDAY call reporting a jetskier had come off his jetski and was unconscious in water prompted an emergency response yesterday afternoon (Saturday, August 13).
Bembridge lifeboat, the Norman Harvey, was sent to Priory Bay near Seaview.
When crews reached the scene, the casualty had already been picked up by a nearby speedboat and taken to Sea View Yacht Club’s (SVYC) slipway.
Coastguard rescue teams from Bembridge and Ventnor were also called but returned to base when it was clear that the casualty was okay.
Ambulance crews arrived at SVYC, however, by that time, the jetskier had regained consciousness and was last seen making his way back to find his jetski.
The Norman Harvey returned to base and was recovered by 5.30pm – but was launched again later in the evening to provide a presence of St Helens Fort for the ‘Fort Walk’.
