FIREFIGHTERS tackled a field fire on the outskirts of Ryde on Tuesday afternoon (August 9).

The fire spread on farmland off Bullen Road in Nettlestone, not far from Tesco Extra in Westridge Ryde.
Ryde fire crews were called at 5.07pm and were quickly on the scene.
They tackled the fire, involving a 15m-by-20m area of grass, using two hose reel jets.
The blaze was under control by 5.20pm and firefighters returned to the start at 5.43pm.
Ryde Fire, Green Watch, said: "Conditions are so dry it only takes a spark or shard of glass to cause fires like this, please be vigilant when out in open spaces."
