HAMPSHIRE and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service attended a vehicle fire in Sandown earlier this afternoon (Sunday).
Sandown and Shanklin fire crews were sent to the scene on College Close near Avenue Road.
Two engines were used, and upon arrival a large flatbed recovery truck and a Land Rover Freelander were well alight.
Both vehicles have been completely destroyed.
The heat has also damaged a nearby parked caravan.
Thick, black smoke could be observed lingering over Sandown.
One jet, two hose reels, and four breathing apparatus were used to bring the fire under control.
The fire was out, and the stop call was made, at 1.17pm.
