FIREFIGHTERS are dealing with a boat fire in Newport this morning (Saturday).

Crews from Newport and Cowes have been called to the scene near Argyle Road.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue said the boat is on land and thought to be in a driveway or near a block of garages.

Fire crews were tasked shortly after 9am.

UPDATE 10.20am:

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue has confirmed a boat, and car and a container were all on fire. 

Four breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used to extinguish any flames. 

Firefighters remain on site and are damping down the area.
