A WOMAN in her 50s has died after collapsing in the street in Ventnor.
Police and ambulance were called to Albert Street last night (Wednesday) to attend the suspected medical episode.
The road was blocked to traffic for a while, in the centre of the town, while the emergency services were at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 7.39pm on December 16 to assist the ambulance service, after a woman had collapsed in the street in Albert Street, Ventnor.
"This is suspected to have been as a result of a medical episode and there is no evidence of third party involvement.
"The woman, aged in her 50s, was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short while later."
