A WOMAN was pronounced dead today (Sunday) following a suspected heart attack suffered on Yaverland beach on the outskirts of Sandown.
Air Ambulance, paramedics and coastguard crews were called to the busy location this afternoon after first receiving reports at around 3.50pm.
Shortly after 4pm, two paramedics, the air ambulance and Coastguard Rescue arrived at the beach to assist, with members of the general public having administered CPR during the intervening 20 minutes.
An eye-witness, who was close to the incident, said: "Members of the public were carrying out CPR on a woman who had suffered a suspected heart attack.
"The paramedics arrived approximately 20 minutes later to assist her."
Medical workers fought hard to save the woman's life, but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene this evening.
