A 23-tonne digger has caught fire in Lake this morning (Saturday).

Two fire crews were called to the scene on Newport Road at 10.19am this morning. 

A fire service spokesperson described the piece of machinery was 'well alight'. 

Crews are using a hosereel and two breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.
