Two people have sustained what police are calling 'minor injuries' following a collision on the outskirts of Newport on the Isle of Wight this morning (Wednesday).

As previously reported by the County Press, two vehicles collided on Briddlesford Road.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called at 8.05am.

The road was shut between its junctions with Combley Road and the Robin Hill roundabout, for most of the morning.

It has since reopened.

Paramedics and firefighters were also called.

A police spokesperson confirmed two people reported minor injuries.
