A NEW festival is coming to the Isle of Wight, focusing on early music tunes from the 16th to the 18th centuries.
The Fairest Isle Festival will take their audiences on a musical journey through time, from May 10 to 12, at churches and venues across the Island.
The festival has a line-up of world-class artists, and will involve talks, tours and workshops.

Among the line-up are the Scandinavian Alehouse Boys (Barokksolistene), who will transport you to the wonderfully funky world of Henry Purcell in a raucous 17th-century tavern setting.
Experience the wonder of Purcell's short opera, Dido and Aeneas, which is full of dances, well-known songs and duets, led by artistic director Robert Hollingworth with the festival’s resident band, Barokksolistene and UK’s early music stars.
The festival opens with a programme from the multi-virtuosic recorder consort Palisander, who have been described as "Early music’s very own Spice Girls".
Workshops will include the chance to unleash your inner troubadour with Learn to Sing a Sea Shanty on the banks of the river Medina, and Come and Sing a Classic Baroque Choral Work with the festival’s resident band Barokksolistene and top soloists.
In collaboration with the Isle of Wight Music Hub, the festival is running educational workshops and masterclasses in schools, nurturing the creative spark in young talents.
